To perform venipunctures and capillary punctures as related to age of patient. The hospital serves all age groups, infancy through geriatrics. Collect urine specimens to appropriate Laboratory sections. Label specimens collected with patient''s name, history number, date of collection and initials of person collecting specimen. To perform various clerical tests utilizing knowledge of laboratory systems and procedures in compliance with hospital regulations and intradepartmental functions. Forward lab reports to appropriate locations and maintain records of lab reports. This person will work as a phlebotomist in the inpatient, outpatient or emergency department setting.
High School graduate or equivalent. Able to understand various medical terminology related to phlebotomy. Completed a course in Medical Phlebotomy and is certified or eligible for phlebotomy certification. Experience working with the public is desirable.
