Summary
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Coordinates and facilitates all clerical functions of the Women's Services Departments along with keeping the area secure. The department secretary is also responsible for registering all patients that enter through Women's Services. Acts as liaison between the staff and patients, families, physicians and external contacts. Assures efficiency of daily operations of the Women's Services Department and timely coordination and planning of special projects. Admits patients by gathering and recording physician, patient, and payment responsibility information; answering questions; providing hospital and hospital services information. Because the Women's Services Departments are locked units, the department secretary is to remain in her work area at all times unless someone is covering the front door during their absence. Maintains a positive attitude and strict confidentiality with all patient, visitor and physician interactions. Provides other clerical/secretarial support as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate required. Additional education beyond high school as Medical Secretarial Science or equivalent preferred. Prior clerical experience preferred. Bi-lingual is a 'plus". Clinical, technical, or paraprofessional experience in a direct patient care setting preferred.
